They say all Good Things must come to and end and for nearly 20 years the Memphis Bop Club has been fortunate enough to dance on Friday nights. Well our Good Thing has come to an end the Memphis Bop Club will start dancing on Sundays beginning on May 4, 2008 our dance time will be from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. I hope that you will continue to support the Memphis Bop Club and come out on Sundays to enjoy the music you love to dance to.
It is with sadness that I announce that Dr. T (Tom) Claypool has resigned as Parliamentarian from the Memphis Bop Club Board. At the April 7, 2008 Board meeting the board elected unanimously to replace Dr. T with Shirley Ashcraft. Shirley has agreed to fill the position of Parliamentarian for the remainder of the year. Oh don’t worry Dr. T will still be around to help whenever needed and you will still see him playing on Sundays. Some people don’t realize how much time it takes being on the board and some times it can be stressful but it is the love for the Memphis Bop Club and it’s members is the reason we have the Board volunteers.
It has been brought to the Memphis Bop Club boards attention that we have members who are bringing in drinks (coke, water, etc) into the BelAir as well as some are bringing in bottles. This is not acceptable and will not be tolerated, if anyone is caught bringing in drinks or bottles they will be asked to leave the BelAir.
Larry Leatherwood, Casino Royale Dance Committee Chairperson presented to the Board at the April meeting a contract with the Gold Strike Casino for our 2009 Casino Royale Dance. The board has approved tentatively the April 3 & 4, 2009 dates at the Gold Strike Casino. This is the first place the Casino Royale Dance was held prior to moving to the Horseshoe Casino. Will keep you updated as more information is available.
We had a good crowd for our 21st birthday party on Friday, April 11th. Jackie Allensworth and her crew did a great job decorating for the party and as usual Robbie & Bob Anderson did a great job with the cake. Thanks to all who helped with the event.
