Greetings Memphis Bop Club Members!
Beale Street Rockin’ 2011
By now I imagine that everyone has heard about our downtown dance “Beale Street Rockin’” 2011”. There is a lot of excitement around this event. The dance will be held at The Double Tree hotel in downtown Memphis at the Southeast corner of the intersection of Union and Third.
The Double Tree has given us a special room rate and they are holding 150 rooms for Friday and 150 room for Saturday. There are lots of things to do downtown. A few are: The Peabody shops, restaurant, lobby, and ducks are across the street. The Memphis Redbirds Stadium is also across the street.
Beale Street is a few blocks away and the site of the kickoff party on Thursday at Alfred’s. Alfred’s, Ground Zero, and Silky O’Sullivans will welcome dancers on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Hospitality, a Memphis Barbeque Dinner, will be held Saturday afternoon at Silky O’Sullivans. Memphis has great barbeque.
Wayne Maxey is the chairman of the committee for this dance. He and his team have worked a long hours planning this dance and arranging activities. I am sure that Wayne will need some help getting ready for all our guest, so please give him help if you can.
Lets make this an event that everyone will be looking forward to every year.
Participation in our Friday night dances has grown. With this increase in dancers, tables are getting crowded. Please offer seats for those who are looking for a place to sit.
